and environmental protection through sustainable tourism,

We preserve the cultural and natural heritage of Makhoarane Cultural Precinct through sustainable tourism. We identify and safeguard significant heritage sites, structures, traditions and ecosystems via research. Together with the community, we build local eco-tourism capacity and restore historic structures using climate-conscious methods. SSM engages local chiefs, councilors, heritage institutions, MPs, schools, churches and community representatives. Since 2016, we have trained over 50 tour guides and homestays, restored 3 endangered sites, facilitated 7+ apprenticeships, mapped 37 heritage sites, published 2 research papers and established a heritage fund. We collaborate with stakeholders at all levels to mobilize resources and build partnerships for heritage preservation, cultural development and environmental protection.
